Karel Maes<\/b> is the founder of Maes Betonfabriek. In <\/span>1949<\/b>, he started producing concrete <\/span>slabs<\/b> and <\/span>posts<\/b> in the Grachtstraat in Dessel and building up <\/span>fences<\/b>, <\/span>sheds<\/b> and <\/span>garages<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

For the first few years, all products were manufactured with <\/span>hand moulds<\/b>, until Karel finally started using a <\/span>tilting machine<\/b> in the <\/span>1970s<\/b>. Since <\/span>1978<\/b>, his sons Luc and Dirk are running the business. They in turn purchased their first <\/span>slab machine<\/b>, with a capacity of <\/span>300 slabs<\/b> per day.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the <\/span>1990s<\/b>, production moved to <\/span>Nieuwedijk<\/b> in Dessel, where our company is still located today. In <\/span>2000<\/b>, Luc’s sons <\/span>Jelle<\/b> and <\/span>Senne<\/b> got on board to support the <\/span>production process<\/b> and <\/span>sales<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In 2008, we heavily invested in a <\/span>fully automatic concrete plant<\/b> with a double mixer, a first <\/span>automatic slab machine<\/b> with a capacity of <\/span>700 slabs\/day<\/b> and a new <\/span>machine <\/b>to produce<\/span> posts<\/b>. We further complemented our machinery park in <\/span>2012<\/b> and <\/span>2014<\/b> with an additional <\/span>tipping<\/b> and <\/span>slab machine<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Thoughtful investments & further expansions<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Our new <\/span>production hall<\/b> was festively opened in <\/span>2018<\/b>. We also commissioned <\/span>three additional machines<\/b> and expanded our workforce.<\/span><\/p>

Since <\/span>2020<\/b>, our customers can visit our renovated warehouse for <\/span>fencing<\/b>, <\/span>wooden <\/span>pallets<\/b><\/a> and other <\/span>fencing materials<\/b><\/a>. That way, we are a one-stop shop for both <\/span>professionals<\/b> and <\/span>private individuals<\/b>. As we try to reduce our ecological footprint, we invested in a <\/span>solar panel park<\/b> with 600 units.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Opening a second production site<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To meet the ever-growing demand from our <\/span>customers<\/b> and <\/span>foreign merchants<\/b>, we opened a second production site on <\/span>Goormansdijk<\/b> in 2021. Two new <\/span>slab machines<\/b> were immediately commissioned there, increasing production capacity by <\/span>1,200 slabs<\/b> per day. Moreover, a <\/span>solar panel park<\/b> with 300 units will be installed on the site in 2023. Meanwhile, our team has over <\/span>20 employees<\/b> who can produce more than <\/span>200 tonnes of concrete<\/b> per day using our machinery.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Jelle and Senne have big plans for Maes Betonfabriek. In the next few years, for instance, they will <\/span>renew<\/b> and <\/span>expand<\/b> our machinery to continue delivering <\/span>high-quality<\/b> products.
